LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS

 

Our community offers close to $100,000 in local scholarship money! Please click on the scholarship information below with instructions on how to apply for each local scholarship.  

The Local Scholarship window is open from December 15, 2025 through the deadline of February 20, 2026!

Local Scholarship recipients will be recognized at Senior Awards Night: Wednesday, April 22 at 6:00pm.

 

You can apply for 86 scholarships with one common application through the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation! Application Link HERE: BSHS Local Scholarship Application.

​The following scholarships require you to complete their application separately and send your application materials to the email listed. Please read each description carefully and follow the specific instructions. Incomplete applications cannot be considered.

  • Separate Application Tip: Download all Google Docs and save them as a PDF to email the scholarship provider. 

    • Google Docs are not compatible with non-Gmail users. PDFs are universal and can be viewed by any email user.

First State Bank & Trust Scholarship

Criteria:

  • 3.75 GPA

  • Post-Secondary Institution: 4-year 

  • Essay describing BSHS activities, academic accomplishments, community activities while attending BSHS

  • Financial Need (please describe within written essay)

  • (Social Security Number, proof of enrollment, and student ID will be required if selected for this scholarship)

New Century Club Arts Scholarship

The student should write a paper about his/her interest in the arts—what they have been doing in this and what they plan to do in the future.  Make it informative and complete.  Also, a portfolio of your work should be provided.  There will be one scholarship in the amount of $500.00.  Please complete the application that can be found HERE

Bonner Springs NAACP 2026 Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Must have a 3.0 GPA - Transcript required.

  • Must be a high school senior enrolling in a post-secondary program in Fall 2026

  • Open to current, NAACP Youth Council members or youth whose parents/guardians are Adult Branch members

    • Students who wish to become members of the NAACP Youth Council will also be considered, but must fill out the NAACP membership application HERE

Required Materials:

  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation

  • Transcript

  • One (1) Page Essay

  • List of participation in NAACP community service

  • List of Honors and Awards on scholarship application

  • (Evidence of full-time enrollment if selected)

​Bonner Springs NAACP 2026 Scholarship- Dr. Jesse Milan Scholarship

 *Click HERE to read the Bio of Dr. Jesse Milan Educator and Civil Rights Leader in Kansas to draw inspiration for this scholarship.*

Criteria:

  • Must have a 3.0 GPA - Transcript required.

  • Must be a high school senior enrolling in a post-secondary program in Fall 2026

  • Open to current, NAACP Youth Council members or youth whose parents/guardians are Adult Branch members

  • Selection for the Bonner Springs Branch NAACP- Dr. Jesse Milan Scholarship will place emphasis that the student has been a leader in: Civil Rights, Education, Community Service for African Americans

Spencer C. Buck Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship requires an essay and resume.  The essay should be written on the following questions:  How has your involvement in school, school activities, and your community prepared you for the future?  Please attach attendance records.  Please complete the application that can be found HERE

​Wyandotte Masonic Lodge #3 Scholarship

This scholarship requires a resume and cover letter.  The following criteria will be considered in choosing the scholarship winners.

  • Financial need

  • Academic achievement

  • Community/extracurricular involvement

  • Leadership

  • Work history

  • Essay on Patriotism/Citizenship

  • Need to attach your transcript and ACT scores
